Best Overall
GearLight S1000 2-Pack
Key details
- Size
- 6.1 x 1.57 x 1.57 in
- Modes
- 5 modes with zoom
- Battery
- 3 AAA per light (not included)
- Brightness
- 1040 lumens
Two lights in one package is the reason the S1000 set earns our top spot. We kept one by the back door and one in a glovebox, and the 1,040-lumen beam is bright enough to light a yard, a stairwell, or a roadside tire change without feeling like a novelty. The 6.1-inch body fits a jacket pocket or a drawer, and the aluminum shell is rated for a 10-foot drop and water resistance.
The five modes and zoom head give you a wide flood for walking and a tighter spot for distance. We mostly left ours on high, but the lower settings are there when you need to save cells. The tail switch is easy to find by feel, and the included holsters and lanyards make the pair easy to stash.
The catch is the power source: each light takes three AAA cells, and none come in the box. That is a small errand, not a dealbreaker, because AAA cells are everywhere. For a general-purpose light you want to grab without thinking, this is the pair we recommend first.
Pros
- Two lights in one package
- 1040-lumen zoom beam
- Runs on easy-to-find AAA cells
- Aluminum body with drop and water resistance
Cons
- Five-mode sequence can slow quick use
The GearLight S1000 two-pack is our default for most homes and cars: bright, compact, and easy to feed with AAA batteries.
