A balm only helps if it's within arm's reach, and four tubes for the price of one fancy gloss is how this one earns the top spot. We keep one in the car, one in a desk drawer, one in the coat we actually wear in January, and there's still a spare in the cupboard. The stick does the everyday job: beeswax and fruit extracts, a smooth glide rather than a waxy drag, and lips that feel soft an hour later instead of coated.
What we noticed most is how it behaves under repeated use. Pomegranate is a sweet, tropical scent you can also taste, which is pleasant at a desk and less so if you want your balm to be invisible. The formula skips petrolatum, parabens, phthalates, and SLS, and it goes on creamy rather than greasy, so a second layer in the afternoon doesn't turn into a film.
The trade-off is the scent. On lips that are already split or reacting, a fragranced balm is the last thing you want, and the fix isn't a different flavor; it's a plain occlusive like the Aquaphor tube below. Keep this one for maintenance and reach for that when lips are past maintenance.
Where it wins is unglamorous. Because the tubes are inexpensive and plentiful, we use them freely, and using a balm freely is most of the battle. Ours get lost in pockets and left in gloveboxes, and replacing one costs almost nothing, which is exactly the behavior you want from a lip balm.
Pros
- Four tubes cover car, desk, and coat
- Beeswax formula without petrolatum or parabens
- Smooth, creamy glide rather than waxy drag
Cons
- All four tubes are the same pomegranate flavor
Our default everyday balm: four natural beeswax sticks that soften dry lips, cost little enough to lose, and land one in every bag you own.
